IGF Code (Advanced)
An advanced training for Masters, engineer officers and all personnel with
immediate responsibility for the care and use of fuels and fuel systems on
ships subject to the IGF code, satisfying section A-V/3 – paragraph 2 of the
STCW Code, referred to as the ‘Advanced IGF Training’.

- Properties of low flashpoint fuels
- Gas detection and measurement
- Management of hazards
- Fuel storage systems
- Fuel systems for propulsion plants
- Fuel system components
- IGF Code, MARPOL, and other relevant legislation
- PPE and protective devices
- Safe working practices and procedures
- Emergency procedures
- Bunkering process and simulation
- Firefighting operations
- Fuel transfer and management process
Course Prerequisites
Participants should have valid STCW Deck and Engine Officers’ Certification.
Course Approval and Certification
Finnish Flag State; delivered in cooperation with Aboa Mare.
